Hello, my name is ryk and this is my place. The photos above are of myself and my website designer, Lobo. We are both very new to the mechanics of building a website, so if this one seems a little unpolished or out of kilter, that is why. We always try to upload a good product to the mother ship, but sometimes it winds up looking like a train wreck, especially on some versions of internet explorer.
I chose Abandon Mythology for the site's name because that's what I believe mankind needs to do in order to ever reach any kind of lasting peace. I believe that the survival of human civilization (and our planet for that matter) depends on the rational part of the human brain overcoming the primitive, ignorant, frightened portion.
Do I believe that is likely to happen? Honestly? No. So what is the purpose of this blog? For the most part, it's about forcing myself to write more frequently, but I'm finding there's something therapeutic and liberating about writing my thoughts down and just tossing them out there for anyone with a modem to see. This is my place to tilt at windmills and vent my frustrations with all things social, political and religious, and exercise my free speech rights at the same time. My family, friends and neighbors don't (usually) have to listen to me bitch anymore. If they want to know what's going on in my head (where I really live), they can come here voluntarily.
